If you're planning to visit Neuschwanstein castle, Füssen is the train stop. From the train station, pick up a short bus ride to Hochenschwangau town and the castles. Or, it's also fun for kids to take a horse-drawn carriage up the mountain.

Explore the town – Take a walk through the cobblestone streets, lined with colorfully painted buildings. There's a pedestrian street that once was a Roman road, the town fountain with Fussen's patron saint, St. Magnus, fortified towers and city walls, and a monastery that dates to the 9th century. From the bridge, follow the path upstream along the Lech River for a nice stroll. |
