American Museum of Natural History – The American Museum of Natural History is a “must-see” for your visit with kids to New York. The gigantic Barosaurus dinosaur in the museum rotunda is impressive, but you might also want to rush to see the Star of India, biggest sapphire in the world (Hall of Gems), or a 4.5 billion year old meteorite (Hall of Meteorites). More wonders of the natural world include amazing dioramas of big mammals and ocean life, or the boggling collections of dinosaur fossils. To find out more of the natural world in and around New York, check out the Alexander White Science Center (with live animals), and on the 3rd floor, New York State mammals and birds exhibits (Central Park is perfect for bird watching). Take in a show at the IMAX LeFrak Theater, and the Hayden Planetariaum in Rose Center for Earth and Space.
