Toronto is the Huron word for "meeting place," and this largest of Canadian cities is a great melting pot of cultures and styles: kids can hear English, French, Cantonese, and Italian spoken most often in the streets. Tour by bike The City of Toronto has put together a "Cycling Map" complete with bike paths, trails, and parks of which there are plenty: Toronto boasts of over 90 km (60 miles) of trails and 1500 parks. You can get a copy for the Civic Centre, or download one from the City's Web site: Cyclemap. |

| Use the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) The TTC is a great public transportation network, which includes subway, bus, street car and ferry systems: where ever you're trying to get to, you can do it on the TTC. | Tip: WinterFest in February is an indoor-outdoor family festival featuring Canadian music and dance as well as cultural and athletic exhibitions, circus productions and a hands-on arts and science exhibits. But be sure to bundle up the kids, because you'll want to spend lots of time checking out the ice and snow sculptures and world-class ice skating shows. |
