Around Whistler

Alta Lake –

Lakeside Park – Sandy beaches, swimming, picnic tables with barbeques, just bring your swim suits and lunch. At Lakeside Park Water Sports Centre, rent kayaks, canoes and pedal boats and go out on the lake.
Rainbow Park has plenty of picnic tables, barbeque pits, a floating dock and snack bar.

River of Golden Dreams – Our favorite boating activity in Whistler is to paddle down the "river of golden dreams," the creek between Alta and Green Lakes. Rent canoes or double kayaks from Lakeside Park, and paddle down the smooth-flowing river; keep your eyes peeled for beavers and river otters. Rent the canoes or kayaks as a tour with a guide, or self-guided, there are also wildlife trips at sunset. Rental includes life jackets and a shuttle ride back from Green Lake.

Go horseback riding (Green Lake) – Whistler Outdoor Experience offers trail rides through the forests and around Green Lake, one and a half hours, for kids 9 and up.  Also available are pony rides for little ones (4 and up).

Alpha Lake Park – Next to the picnic tables on the northwest side of the lake is a wonderful tree house play area.  Also available is swimming and floating dock, volleyball, and a nice trail around lake.

Cheakamus Lake

Cheakamus Lake hike – From the parking lot at the end of the road, it's just a half hour hike to the lake. The largely level trail follows along the Cheakamus River through and ancient cedar and Douglas fir forest to lovely turquoise Cheakamus Lake. There are picnic tables along the lake, so bring your lunch. From highway 99, south of Whistler Village, take the exit for Cheakamus Lake Rd. and drive about 14km to the parking lot.
