Mammoth Lakes |
The Mammoth Lakes area is one of our favorite places to come with kids, all year round. In summer, there’s hiking, biking, boating, fishing, picnicking, horseback riding, or just playing in Mammoth Creek that runs through the center of town. Mammoth turns into a snowy wonderland in winter, with skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. |

Winter Activities |
Go camping – Mammoth Lakes is a super spot to camp – miles of hiking trails, lakes for fishing and boating, and the convenience of supermarkets and sporting goods stores in town to stock up on camping supplies. | |||
Tips on altitude – The town is situated at 7,500 ft., Mammoth Mountain is 9,000 ft. If you've just arrived from sea level, it may take a day to adjust to the high altitude. Be sure to drink lots of water to stay hydrated. Up in mountains, even in summer, days are warm but cool off at night, and wear lots of sunscreen. |
