Golkonda Fort Good for a day of wandering if you bring a picnic. This massive 13th century city fortress was famed for its legendary wealth and vaults in which were stored the Koh-i-noor and Hope diamond. A bit crumbly today, but it was a huge granite complex, with mosques, apartments, temples, and gardens. |

Nehru Zoological Park The zoo, with 300 acres to explore, is really worth a day. If you get there early, there is a safari ride through an open lion and tiger cage, and in the early morning the animals are active. In the middle of the zoo there is a lake which attracts thousands of birds from the area. You can see animals close up, including leopard cubs, hippos and rare pheasants. Bring your own food for a picnic as the canteen is non-functional. |
