Lake Brienz (Brienzersee)

Lake cruises – Lake cruises depart from the East train station (Bahnhof) in Interlaken, stopping various villages along the way, to Brienz at the far end of the lake. Cruises take about 1 1/2 hours, 3 hours round trip. In the summer months, enjoy a cruise on the paddle steamer Lotschberg. .
Iseltwald – A charming little town on the south side of the lake, Iseltwald is a fun day trip from Interlaken. Take the PostBus, have a fresh fish lunch, kids can play the charming playground (swings, slides, bouncy things) next to the PostBus stop.

Then take a walk along the lake. Follow the sign east that says "Wanderweg" (there's a map at the PostBus stop), and follow the paved promenade along the lake, a scenic walk. On the return trip, pick up the boat and cruise back to the East train station in Interlaken.

Hike the Woodcarving Trail ("Schnitzlerweg") from Axlap Sporthotel up to the lake of Hintersburgseeli (takes about 1 1/2 hours). Along the way are trees carved into figures by Brienz craftsmen - figures of a child, a hunter, a fisherman, children listening to an echo, a woman collecting mushrooms.
