switzerland   Travel for Kids

Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland, is a worldwide banking center but there's plenty of fun things to do with kids. Founded on the banks of the Limmat River during Roman times, in the Middle Ages Zurich prospered with businesses in textiles, silver and gold. Today kids can ride 1889 red Polybahn cable railway for a super panorama of the city.

Fountains – Everywhere you go in Zurich, look for fountains in all shapes and sizes. The water is good to drink and you'll see the locals filling their water bottles from the fountains.
Ride the trams – It's so easy to get around downtown Zurich with the trams and buses (ZVV network), which run frequently and cover the central Zurich, zone 10. Tageskarte, a day transportation card, allows for unlimited trips on any tram, bus, and includes Limmat boat rides on the lake and river.

sprungli macarons
The warm smells coming out of the sweet shops (confiserie) in Zurich are enticing, and it's hard to walk by without sampling chocolates in all sizes and freshly baked pastries. For elegant sweets, stop into Sprungli and try the colorful tiny "Luxemburgerli" macarons in pastel colors, with flavors of chocolate, vanilla, raspberry, lemon, caramel.
