The Dordogne |
This area is chock full of limestone caves, some have prehistoric paintings like Lascaux, others are just natural wonders, dripping with stalagmites and stalactites. Rivers are dotted with dramatic castles on the cliffs, a living history of the clashes between the French and English over Aquitaine in the Middle Ages. In the Dordogne, kids can pretend they're either cave dwellers or medieval knights and ladies. |
