Toronto – North

black creek pioneer village
Black Creek Pioneer Village – Go back in time and to a very different life style, preserved at Black Creek Pioneer Village. A recreation of an 1800s farm town, the "Village" has about two dozen buildings, including a barn with sheep and pigs, stables, a one room schoolhouse, a log house, and even a stagecoach. Best of all is watching crafts and chores being performed by people dressed as Mennonite farmers and sampling period foods.
Take a hike – The Kortright Centre for Conservation, less than an hour from Toronto, is Canada's biggest conservation center and it's perfectly located for walks in all kinds of terrain. Join a guided walk to explore forests or meadows and learn all about the local flora and fauna.
McMichael Canadian Art CollectionGet to know the Group of Seven at the McMichael, about 45 minutes north of downtown. The gallery sits in the midst of beautiful trees – a perfect setting for the collection of Canadian landscape paintings done in the early 1900s. Stopping here is a great way to get a feel for the passion Canadians have for their country's grand wilderness, and also see contemporary First Nations and Inuit artworks.
Canada's Wonderland – If you're ready to just let loose, check out the Wonderland. A spectacularly large amusement park with over four dozen rides (including 10 roller coasters). On hot days the big attraction is Splash Works, a huge water park. Musical shows, acrobats and high divers entertain everyone in the family.
