Thian
Hock Keng Temple This temple, built a century ago with
materials from China, is dedicated to the goddess of the sea, and protector
of sailors. When Chinese immigrants arrived from China, their first stop
was this temple, to give thanks for their safe journey to Singapore. |

Sri
Mariamman, the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, is dedicated to the
rain Goddess Mariamman and Devi. The temple gate is covered
with oodles of brightly painted gods and goddesses, flanked by two large
sculptures of white sacred cows. The inside of the temple is equally impressive,
especially the painted ceilings. |
