 St.
Davids Cathedral – St. David
is the patron saint of Wales, and March 1st, St. Davids feast day,
is celebrated
all over Wales. The cathedral was built on the spot where St.
David founded
a monastery in the 6th century. A great pilrgrimage site, St.
Davids Cathedral has been a sacred place in Wales for centuries. |

The Cathedral is marvelouly ecclectic, with pastel colored leaded glass windows, tiled floors, Romanesque arches, a fabulous wooden ceiling, and tombs of Welsh lords. The carvings and tilework are super - kids can look for a red and green dragon, an angel with a chalice, two ravens and three fish on a shield. |

The Bishop's
Palace across the way is a glorious ruin - private living and eating quarters, chapel, and a Great Hall to entertain important visitors (pilgrims). |

the Oceanarium, or Marine Life Centre which also has stuff
from local wrecks. |

Take a boat trip around
Ramsey Island, a RSPB reserve
and home to many birds, including puffins and razorbills. In the waters, keep your eyes peeled for seals and harbour porpoises. |

Horseback rides on the beach - At Nolton, go for a ride on the beach, one and two hour rides, morning and afternoon. There are rides for kids as young as five, helmets are provided, but wear closed toed shoes. |

Beaches - Whitesands Beach has a long sandy beach to explore. Newgate Sands is also another good beach for families. |
