The Sologne (La Sologne) |
In the Middle Ages, this area between the Loire and Cher rivers, La Sologne, was the private hunting grounds for the nobles. Today you can still see wild boar and deer in the forests of La Sologne. It's a large nature preserve, acres of leafy woods, tranquil ponds, heather-covered moors, interspersed with picturesque villages and castles. | |||
There are well marked hiking trails; pick up a map at any tourist office. The Sologne also has trails wide enough for bikes. Horseback riding is also available. |
