Cape Blanco

Cape Blanco Lighthouse – Our favorite lighthouse on the Oregon Coast, not only can you tour the Cape Blanco Lighthouse and climb up to the top, but it's still in operation, lighting the coast!
The Oregon coast is littered with ships wrecked during storms or on foggy nights. In the 19th century, lighthouses were built to alert ships to dangerous rocks. Built in 1870, Cape Blanco Lighthouse is 256 ft above the ocean, 63 steps to the top.
On the tour, the tour guide wears a replica lighthouse keeper's blue uniform, and has lots of fun stories about the construction and history of the lighthouse. Lighthouse tours are April through October (kids under 15 are free), closed on Tuesday.
Whale watching – From the lighthouse are spectacular ocean views, look for pods of gray whales migrating north in March and April. Bring binoculars!
Cape Blanco State Park – Day use with picnic area and year-round campground (camp sites plus four rustic cabins), located close to the beach, with hiking trails, long flat sand beach with lots of driftwood. Reserve your spot in advance Oregon State Parks.
