Washington - Southwest |
The southwest tip of Washington is shaped by the entrance of the great Columbia River, waves crashing on rocky headlands and a graveyard for shipwrecks. Lewis & Clark and the Corps of Discovery reached Cape Disappointment in November 1805, the end of their voyage to the Pacific Ocean. Kids can go beachcombing for sand dollars and crabshells on Long Beach, the longest natural beach in the world, whale watching in Westport. |
